A vineyard in the desert? You bet! Since 2002, Oak Creek Vineyards & Winery has been crafting a broad range of fine wines, helping put northern Arizona’s Verde Valley on the wine map. Our ten-acre, high desert estate vineyard sits at a 3,400-foot elevation and borders Oak Creek, which runs along Page Springs Road, home to our winery. In the vineyard, we grow everything from Chardonnay, Merlot and Zinfandel to Syrah and Tempranillo, as well as making Fume Blanc, Pinot Gris, Grenache Blanc, Cream Sherry, Port and several proprietary blends from both estate and purchased grapes.
It was a long and winding road that led Deb Wahl, Oak Creek Vineyard’s proprietor and a trained chemist, to Northern Arizona’s Verde Valley. Born in Croatia, Deb spent most of her youth in South Africa, subsequently migrating to Boston and becoming an American citizen. In 2000, Deb and her family visited Sedona, a small, but celebrated northern Arizona town in the Upper Sonoran Desert perched at a 4,500-foot elevation amid a slew of majestic red sandstone formations.
Our estate vineyard and winery is located in the Verde Valley in northern Arizona, roughly 100 miles north of Phoenix. The valley is 35 miles long and encompasses a variety of incredibly scenic high desert landscapes, most notably the amazing red rock formations near Sedona.
The area surrounding our winery on Page Springs Road was settled originally by Native American peoples dating back to the 8th century.
