CELBRATE 2011 WITH RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS!
With each passing year, we at OAKCREEK VINEYARDS & WINERY have noticed that it becomes more and MORE important to be kind to others… no matter what species, color, gender, what part of the planet you may live upon. Look around you; notice people and their perhaps plight. Is there something you can do to make them smile? It doesn’t take much effort or coin… K.I.S.S. Principle! (Keep It Simple Sweetheart!).
Take a look at the animal kingdom and apply their traits to your own Life… excellent teachers. For instance… these horses… “Take time to notice and say hello to your neighbors.” The giraffes… “Kiss your children often.” Extend a helping hand whenever and wherever you can.

Some suggestions you may try:
- You have a full cart of groceries and the person behind you has a few – you let them go ahead of you.
- As you walk out the door, hold the door open for the person behind you.
- Leave an unexpected greeting card on the windshield of someone’s car…just because!
- Pay for a cup of coffee ahead of time, for someone you know who will come to your favorite café later on.
- Someone is having a hard time coming up with the last bit of change they need to buy something; pull out a couple of $$ and hand it to the clerk.
- Put a $5 bill under a box of cereal in a grocery store and chuckle as you depart.
What a way to begin the New Year! Be resourceful and render speechless the people you meet! It’s soooo simple! Treat everyone equal, no matter how they are dressed or where they come from. Sow seeds of kindness wherever you may roam and be amazed at the phenomenal sprouts of growth to your own spirit, the town in which you live, and the entire world around you. (You never know who someone is and what their circumstances are.)
A stunning true story of prejudging people and a lack of willingness to assist with a Random Act of Kindness:
An elderly farm couple (very tired and tattered-looking) drove across the U.S. to Harvard one day; seeking an audience with the Dean. The secretary brushed them aside and left them to sit there all day long. Upon the Dean’s departure for the day, there they sat in the waiting room; tired and hungry. As the story goes, their son had attended Harvard and had since died. He had loved Harvard so much, that they wanted to erect a monument in his memory. The Dean said they could not do such a thing and sent them on their way. Home they went; back to California. It was there they figured out a way to monumentalize their beloved son… they built STANFORD UNIVERSITY.
Be impromptu… call up your friends and invite them over for a glass of wine… Come As You Are! There is no food that needs to be prepared; just sit with friends and enjoy their company. Better still, have them meet you at our Tasting Room, where you can try a variety of wine and snacks. We will handle everything for you. Let’s begin 2011 with even more heart! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
